The short version: CrackMac the app collects nothing. The website collects almost nothing. Paddle handles your payment and we see only what we need to send you your purchase.
Who is responsible
The data controller for anything described here is Crackmac LLC, Serbia, reachable at support@crackmac.lol.
The app
The full version of CrackMac runs entirely on your Mac. It has no account system, no analytics and no crash reporting. Your calibration (where the dead zone is) and your settings are stored in the app's preferences on your own machine and never leave it.
Its only network request is the update check. Once a day, and once when it starts, CrackMac downloads a small text file from crackmac.app that holds the current version number. The request sends no identifier, no settings and no cookies, just the app's version in the standard User-Agent header. Like any visit to the website, it reaches our host with your IP address and falls under the standard hosting logs described below. We don't use it to count or identify users. You can switch the check off in Settings → About.
The free trial
The trial edition is the one exception, because its 30 minutes are counted on our server so that reinstalling doesn't reset them. While it runs, about once a minute, it sends crackmac.app two things:
- An anonymous fingerprint of your Mac. This is a one-way SHA-256 hash of the Mac's hardware UUID, mixed with a value specific to CrackMac. The UUID itself never leaves your Mac, and the hash can't be turned back into it or linked to anything outside CrackMac's trial.
- The trial's version number.
We store the fingerprint with when it was first seen, when it last checked in, and how much trial time it has used. We don't store your IP address with it (a separate counter keyed by IP address lives for one hour to stop abuse, then expires), and we don't collect your name, email, calibration, windows or anything on your screen. Trial records are used only to run the trial. Email support@crackmac.lol to have yours deleted; the trial would start from zero afterwards.
CrackMac uses the macOS Accessibility permission to read the positions of windows and the titles of menus so it can keep them on the working part of your screen. That information is used in the moment and isn't recorded, stored or sent anywhere.
The website
The website is a static page. We don't run advertising trackers. The only cookie is a language preference, set when you pick a language in the menu, so the site opens in that language next time.
- Fonts. The page loads the Inter typeface from Google Fonts. Google receives your IP address as part of serving the font file. See Google's privacy policy.
- Hosting. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (IP address, browser, pages requested) for security and to keep the site running. We don't use them to identify you.
- Visit statistics. Cloudflare Web Analytics counts page views and which sites send visitors, without cookies and without identifying you.
- Download and checkout counts. We keep daily totals of trial downloads (with the page or site the visitor came from), trials started, checkouts opened and sales. They're numbers only, like "12 downloads from the guides page on 5 October". No IP address, cookie or other identifier is stored with them.
Free tools
The free tools on this site, including the webcam, microphone, speaker, screen, keyboard and trackpad tests and the HEIC to JPG converter, run entirely in your browser. Camera pictures, sound and photos you use with them stay on your device. Nothing is recorded, uploaded or stored by us. The converter downloads its conversion code from the jsDelivr and cdnjs code libraries when you use it.
Videos in guides
Some repair guides show YouTube videos. Until you click one, the page shows only a preview picture, loaded from YouTube's image server i.ytimg.com. The video player loads only when you click, from youtube-nocookie.com. In both cases Google receives your IP address and the usual browser details. See Google's privacy policy.
Buying
Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns.
When you buy, checkout is provided by Paddle. Paddle collects your name, email address, billing country and payment details and processes them under Paddle's privacy policy. We never see your card details.
Paddle passes us your email address and order details so we can deliver your download and licence, answer support questions and process refunds. We keep those records as long as needed for tax and accounting law, then delete them.
Support email
If you email us, we keep the conversation so we can help you and refer back to it if you write again. We don't add you to a mailing list.
Your rights
Depending on where you live you can ask to see the data we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, or object to how it's used. Email support@crackmac.lol and we'll respond. For data Paddle holds as Merchant of Record, Paddle's own process applies.
Children
CrackMac isn't directed at children and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it.
