What's new
0.1.8 24 September 2026
- CrackMac now tells you when there's a new version: a line in the menu bar menu, a card in Settings, and one notification per release.
- The check is a single request for the version number, once a day. Nothing about you or your Mac is sent, and you can switch it off in Settings → About.
0.1.7 24 September 2026
- Redesigned Settings: an Overview that shows what CrackMac is doing, a live picture of your screen with the dead zone drawn in, and clearer sections for the Dock, screenshots and games.
- Precise dead-zone editing with steppers and value labels, and smoother dragging.
- Pause and resume: ⌃⌥⌘Esc pauses everything, and Resume brings back exactly what you had on.
- The main switches are in the menu bar menu, one click away.
- If every feature is off, CrackMac says so and offers one button to turn it back on.
- Dark mode and many small fixes.
How to update
You don't need to remove anything before updating. Follow these four steps in order.
Quit CrackMac
Click the CrackMac icon in the menu bar and choose Quit CrackMac.
Download and replace
Use the download link from your purchase email. It always gives you the newest version. Open the disk image, drag CrackMac into Applications and choose Replace.

Open it
As on the first install, macOS may say it can't verify CrackMac. Click Done, then go to System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll down and click Open Anyway.
Switch Accessibility back on
macOS treats every new version as a different app, so the old permission stops working even though its switch still looks on. In System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility, select CrackMac and click − to remove it. Then open CrackMac again and turn it on when it asks.
Until you do this, windows won't be kept out of the dead zone, and it can look as if the update broke something. Nothing is broken. CrackMac is only waiting for the permission.
