Where to buy a MacBook replacement screen, and how not to get a bad one
For a genuine new part, buy from Apple's Self Service Repair store. For the best price, eBay and AliExpress sell new aftermarket and used genuine screens for roughly half of Apple's price. iFixit sits in between, with tested used parts and a guarantee. Whatever you buy, match the model number on the bottom of your Mac, the colour, and whether it's a full assembly or the LCD panel only.

<a href="https://crackmac.app/blog/where-to-buy-macbook-replacement-screen">MacBook replacement screen prices, CrackMac</a>The grades you'll see in listings
- Genuine new: Apple's own part, only from Apple's store.
- Genuine used, original or OEM pull: taken from another MacBook. Often the best value. Check for scratches and dead pixels.
- Refurbished or OEM assembled: a genuine or aftermarket panel fitted into a lid. Quality depends on the refurbisher.
- Aftermarket or compatible: new, not made by Apple. Brightness, colour and True Tone may differ.
- For parts: broken. Useful only for its hinges or lid.
How to match the right part
- Turn your Mac over and read the model number, for example A2337, and the EMC number. Our model finder turns it into the exact model.
- Match the colour: Space Gray, Silver, Gold, Starlight or Midnight, depending on the model.
- Decide between a full assembly and an LCD panel only. Here's the difference.
- Check the return policy and whether the seller tests the part before shipping.
Red flags
- A price far below everyone else's for a "new genuine" part.
- Several model numbers in one title with no EMC number.
- Photos that aren't of the actual part.
- No returns, or returns only for "dead on arrival".

Before you order
A new screen is the right fix if the whole display is damaged. If only one edge is dead or flickering, you can keep using the rest of it for a fraction of the price.
If the damage runs along one edge, CrackMac can keep windows, menus and the pointer off it. There's a free 30-minute trial.
Quick answers
Where is the cheapest place to buy a MacBook screen?
Usually AliExpress or eBay, especially for used genuine parts. A new full assembly for an M1 MacBook Air costs about $215 to $357 there, against $395 for Apple's genuine part.
Is it safe to buy a MacBook screen from AliExpress?
It can be, but quality varies and returns are slow. Buy from sellers with many reviews for that exact part, check the model number and colour, and test the screen before fitting it permanently.
How do I know which screen fits my MacBook?
Match the model number printed on the bottom case, such as A2337, and the EMC number, plus the colour. A screen for a different model number will not fit, even if the size is the same.
Saving up for a screen?

If only part of your screen is damaged, CrackMac lets you keep working on the rest while you decide: windows, the menu bar and the pointer stay on the good glass, and the damage is painted black.
