White screen: full-screen white for light, cleaning and testing

Turn your whole screen pure white in one click. Use it as a soft light, to see smudges while cleaning, or to spot dead pixels. Pick another colour or make the white warmer if you like.

Move the mouse or press any key to show controls. Escape leaves. Arrow keys change colour.

Ways to use it

For a full check, run the dead pixel test or the screen test, which also measures damaged edges.

Questions

How do I make my screen white?

Click Open white screen. Your whole screen turns white. Move the mouse or press any key to show the controls, and press Escape to leave.

Can I use a white screen as a light?

Yes. Turn your screen brightness all the way up, open the white screen and use the warmth slider for a softer, warmer light, for example on video calls or to read in the dark.

Is a white screen good for cleaning my screen?

A black screen shows dust and smudges better, a white screen shows fingerprints and streaks. Clean with a soft, slightly damp cloth and no spray directly on the screen.

How do I find dead pixels with a white screen?

Look closely for black dots. Those are dead pixels. For stuck pixels, use a black screen and look for coloured dots, or run the full dead pixel test.

Cracked or partly dead MacBook screen?

A macOS desktop with CrackMac running: black bands cover the damaged left and bottom edges, and the menu bar and windows sit inside the working part of the screen.
With CrackMac: the damaged edges are blacked out, and the menu bar and windows stay on the working glass.

If part of your screen is damaged, CrackMac keeps windows, the menu bar and the pointer on the part that still works and paints the damage black. Free for 30 minutes.
